St Martin and St Mary Church of England Primary School

Year 6

Year 6 is led by Mrs Metcalf and Mr Norris and is supported by Mrs Hindle and Mrs Storey.  Mrs Clarke and Mrs Quill cover PPA time for Year 6 teachers on Thursday afternoons each week.

This term the children will be writing instructions on how to construct a model car, writing a narrative based on White Fang and fine tuning their test techniques for Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar quests.  In Maths we are learning how to convert different types of fractions and then also with fractions add, subtract, multiply and divide them.  We are also looking at percentages and decimals and how the Mastery Approach can provide the children with a greater understanding.  The children are eagerly participating in Times Tables Rockstars, this has uncovered some budding Rockstars who can now correctly answer  60 questions in 54 seconds!

The Tenner project is now in full swing with the planning, preparation and costing all being finalised ready for the upcoming sales in February.  Be sure to keep an eye open for the upcoming sale dates, which show-case the children's innovative designs and products.

Alongside all of the above the children are working tirelessly towards their SAT's in May.  This on-going hard work enables to children to face these tests with the confidence that is required.
