St Martin and St Mary Church of England Primary School

Year 6

Year 6 is led by Mrs Metcalf and Mr Norris and supported by Caroline Hindle, Sarah Clarke and Carole Quill.

This term were are busy working on our Year 6 end of year production.  This year we are performing "The Amazing Adventures of Superstan."  The evening performances are on the 10th and 11th July, please come and support your children and appreciate their effort and commitment to making this comedy performance.

The children have also combined looking at features of maps from around the Lake District, when out on our two outdoor education orienteering days with the Ecrin National Park in France.  We are learning how to answer questions about our daily routine in our French Sessions.

This term will also see the visits to the children's chosen secondary schools where they get to spend time exploring and experiencing life as a Year 7 student.  The children have also been prepared by a visit to Carlisle Cathedral where they learned about - decision making, and moving on during a service conducted by Canon of Carlisle.

We are preparing for our fantastic Sports days and Swimming Gala's by practicing these events, we look forward to seeing you at these events to cheer your children on.

Once the production has been completed we will focus our new learning on Maths and English Investigations using our amazing outdoor spaces and even getting the chance to create our own investigations.

In preparation for Secondary School we feel children should maintain their routine to assist them with their transition therefore homework will still be given.

We are also looking forward to the Leaver's BBQ on the last Monday of Term where the children can celebrate their hard work throughout the year.

The leaver's church service will be on the Tuesday 25th 1.30pm at St Martin's Church, please come along to celebrate this special time for all the Year 6 children.
