St Martin and St Mary Church of England Primary School

Year 3

Year 3 is led by Jane Williamson, Gareth Hodgson and Rachel Leigh.  They also have Cathy Noble, Sue Storey, Sarah Clarke, Carole Quill, and Karen Garstang as teaching assistants.

In the Summer Term we will be looking at the Stone Age in History.  In Science we will be investigating different types of Rocks, and also learning about the parts of a plant and how they grow. In Geography we will be studying the Mighty Mountains, looking at different mountain ranges across the world, and how mountains are formed.  As part of our English curriculum we will be using the book “Pebble in My Pocket” by Meredith Hooper, and we will also be spending time working on instructional texts and language. We are looking forward to creating our very own cave paintings in Art, and also studying the work of local artist Heaton Cooper.  We are looking forward to our Outdoor Education trip to Rydal Cave and Borrans Park later in the summer. We will also be developing our sports skills, swimming in our amazing outdoor pool.

It will be a busy term with lot’s to do – a fantastic way to end our time in Year 3.
