St Martin and St Mary Church of England Primary School

Year 2

Year 2 is led by Louise Swindlehurst and Ben Brown, the class teachers, along with the help and support from Cathy Noble and Karen Garstang.

Autumn Term has already been fun-filled and jam-packed! The children have settles in brilliantly to lots of new routines and are working extremely hard.

We have begun our Countryside Explorers and the children have enjoyed 2 trips already. One of those took us up Orrest Head and onto the Footprint Building. On our way back we had a mystery to solve through St Catherine's Wood.

Our second trip took us to Stott Park Bobbin mill where we learnt about children's lives in the past and how the mill worked. We also walked up and around High Dam.  We have written recounts, fiction and non fiction related to our trips.

This half term we will be reading The Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith and we look forward to lots of writing about the story and researching hedgehogs.

We are also looking forward to working towards our Nativity this half term, learning new songs and lots of performing!

We are really enjoying our whole class reading sessions alongside our guided reading sessions.

What a busy time we are having already!
